The Boys are Back in Town...

And the girls too! All of the students arrived in Oxford last weekend, and the fall semester at Ole Miss has officially begun. There is much excitement on campus when the students finally come back after a long summer. We love hearing stories about their summers, and they are always refreshed and ready to dive into ministry. It is a very exciting time! Kyle and I along with the rest of our team passed out 5,000 flyers on Monday and Tuesday to promote our first weekly meeting. It was a great success! Coach Houston Nutt shared his story at the beginning which was a big draw. We had around 1,000 students come out for the first weekly meeting. We view the first few meetings of the semester as outreaches because our numbers will definitely drop in a few weeks. But, praise the Lord for that many students having the opportunity to hear the gospel and receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Please pray that these students will continue to come to our weekly meetings, but that they would also get plugged into a bible study where they can grow and mature in their faith.

We also had the opportunity to meet Dr. Jones, the new Chancellor of Ole Miss, on Tuesday morning. He visited with our team for about an hour, and it was a pleasure to meet him. He shared his life story with us, and I was deeply encouraged by his heart for the Lord and his desire to see the kingdom advanced. He was very supportive of Campus Crusade, and even offered to speak at one of the weekly meetings. Hopefully, we will have the opportunity to hear from him soon. He also asked our director, Isaac, to be one of his spiritual confidants. Of course, our team found this to be hilarious, but what a humble man. It was a delight to get to know Dr. Jones, and I am thrilled that he is the Chancellor.
